You can read more about my tips for early Christmas planning here. While some of us are already jumping into Christmas decorating mode, I certainly don’t want anyone to feel like you’re are behind because you haven’t put your Christmas tree up two weeks before Thanksgiving! I hope to simply help give a little inspiration and sources to make your own Christmas decor planning a little easier.

The others are warming up to the idea of decorating for Christmas early (one of the hazards of living with a design blogger). We’re excited in the Hume household! Ok, in all honesty, one of us is excited about pulling out the Christmas decorations and putting up the tree. I think we’re all just a little extra ready to gather… to celebrate… and to surround ourselves with our loved ones! We’re already a week into November and there just seems to be a little extra excitement about heading into the holidays this year. We had such a great time putting this Elvis-themed Christmas tree together. One of my favorite things about holiday planning is deciding on our color scheme for Christmas. We decorated the electric fireplace with blue stockings and some more sparkly elements, and hung the glitter Elvis canvas that I recently created on the wall above it. We used a sparkly silver tree skirt and added a big bow on top, made with glittery blue and silver ribbon.Īnd to keep with the theme, of course we had to play Elvis's classic Christmas album on vinyl while we decorated! We filled the tree with lots of traditional ball ornaments in various shades of blue, in glittery, metallic, and shiny finishes. I love how these 45 record ornaments really pop on the tree, with their glittery designs. The glitter foam gave the perfect look, but it wasn't sturdy enough to holds its shape, and the plain foam provided just the stability it needed.įor the record labels, I cut out smaller circles from blue glitter foam sheets and glued them to the middle. Then I traced the record again, but this time on a sheet of black glitter foam.Īfter cutting out both circles, I attached them together with a little spray adhesive. I first traced the outer and inner circles onto a regular sheet of black craft foam. Records were a must! I had one 45 album on hand that worked well for my template. They also look great tucked into the blue tree. I found some inexpensive toy guitars at the dollar store and painted them metallic blue. I stapled nylon fishing line to the backs of the letters to string the words together, and then hung them on the tree like garland.Įlvis's most important instrument is his guitar, so this Elvis-themed tree wouldn't complete without some. I found some paper mâché letters to spell out "I'll Have a Blue Christmas Without You" and basecoated them white first and then added Galaxy Glitter on top for extra sparkle. The "Blue Christmas" lyrics definitely had to be prominently displayed on the tree. Just wait until you see those tucked into the tree. I started by spray painting the tops with a grey basecoat and then a metallic silver topcoat.Īfter the tops dried, I masked them off with tape and spray painted the bottoms glossy black. Have you ever seen those plastic toy microphones at the Dollar Store? We just tucked them into the sides of the tree and we love how the black silhouettes pop against the blue tree. We created with three different silhouettes, two of each, and flipped some of them so they were facing different directions.Ī quick coat of glossy black spray paint and they ready for the tree. Chica printed out some silhouettes of Elvis that she found online and used them as a pattern, and cut them out of 1/4" MDF with her scroll saw. Elvis silhouette ornamentsįor the boldest statement on the tree, we knew we had to pay honor to the King himself by making some Elvis ornaments. We had so much fun creating lots of DIY Elvis themed Christmas ornaments for the tree. She is a big fan of Elvis so we chose a gorgeous blue flocked tree and decorated it with an Elvis-inspired "Blue Christmas" theme. This year for Christmas, we partnered with King of Christmas to bring a special holiday surprise to my aunt.
